Here's my approach to your Jasper Goodall inspired tut. In may case though I've gone for a pegasus instead of an unicorn. Let me know what do you think!

Turned out pretty cool. Good work. Some improving touches would be to put those smoke layers on screen and add in some other stocks of smokes for the foreground.

I'm actually going to reshape my pegasus soon, will keep you posted. Here's my new artwork, hope you'll like it. I didn't make it flawless to make sure it's got this nice, hand painted effect. Easy to do, took me about 15 minutes using Mixing Brush. wink

sweet, im digging that, like its actually painted irl. The areas behind them could have more definition, but i think the rest looks good. Are they racoons?

Photoshop is getting more and more powerful, looks like wont even need corel painter anymore surprise

Thanks Cixxy. They're badgers and actually it's just some random photo I've stocked a few years ago. Just thought I'm going to play with it this morning. I think youy're right, the grassed areas look a bit flat and would do with some more definition however I don't want it to lose this 'impresionist' charm, if you see what I mean.

I love photoshop, in fact I love it even more since upgrading to CS5 laugh laugh And to be fair, I've ditched Corel products permanently.

Yea i see by impressionist, but maybe if there were rocks or barks or trees painted impressionistly it would have more depth than grass and dirt for the background.

Hmm, do you think it can replace painter completely? I mean painter has so many different brushes and artistic tools so I dont know just yet.

Brilliant idea mate! I think I'll make them part of a bigger composition – thanks!

Can painter be replaced? Don't think so, not just yet anyway. Photoshop can become really powerful tool in hands of prolific painters and would enhance their imagination, making their lives easier at the same time. Besides working on canvas, it's something you can interact with with your senses if you see what I mean. All those different types of brushes, bristles, pencils… There's something magical in those tools. There's something ritual in mixing colours… And afterwards the painter stands in front of his masterpiece touching his work, grasping every imperfection and stroke of brush with all senses. Contemplating and living it again…

I think I got carried away. But, concluding – nah, it is not gonna happen smile

Yes I think it'll become too bloated, if it tries to add on all the features of painter. I mean it already has 3D, for god sake!

But the bristle support is indeed a very welcome addition

And here's my CD cover art for Leonard Cohen, according to his agent it's not going to be used in the nearest future, however they love the concept and will think of using it at some point. In the other words, it's been rejected lol

Here's another little something inspired by Jasper Goodall. I quite like the outcome.
